AMD Ryzen 5000 Series BIOS update (2024)

Are you thinking of upgrading to AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPU?If you own a B450, X470, B550 or X570 Motherboard please read below.

I'm in the process of buying an X570 or B550 Motherboard, will it need an updated BIOS for 5000 series?

Yes, if you are in the process of purchasing an X570 or B550 Motherboard from Computer Lounge it will still need a BIOS update. If you are unsure on how to do this yourself we offer aBIOS update service.All you need to do is add the service to your cart and we will do it for you.

Does my Motherboard support Ryzen 5000 Series CPU?

B550 and X570 Motherboards will support AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPUs from release. BIOS are currently being rolled out for both chipsets.

B450 and X470 Motherboards will have support, but will not have BIOS updates until early 2021.

Once the BIOS is released you will need to update your Motherboard.

Here is what you need to do if you currently own a B550 or X570 Motherboard.

(Manufacturers have rolled out and/or are currently in the process of rolling out B550and X570 Bios updates)

  • Check your BIOS Version on your motherboard then;
  • Head over to the Manufacturer Website.(Asus, Gigabyte, MSI )
  • Search for the Motherboard model you have.
  • Check CPU Support and BIOS revision needed for Ryzen 5000 Series.
  • Confirm if you have the correct BIOS version that the manufacturer site lists.
  • If you have an older version, please download the latest supporting Bios version so you can update your Motherboard.
  • Before doing the update please read the manufacturer instructions on how to flash your bios. Flashing a BIOS incorrectly can stop your Motherboard from working.
  • Make sure you note your current Bios settings before flashing, so you can restore your setup easily.
  • Update your Bios.
