China is the world’s largest producer and consumer of carrots. No surprise as there are 1.4 billion people in China. They grow about 45% of the world’s carrots and export 17 million tons a year mostly to their neighboring nations as they are so good in Asian cuisine. The USA comes in #2 with a very distant 2.4 million pounds a year. Sorry, no big foam finger for second place. In the USA California is by far the leading producer growing over 80% of our domestic production.
