Hulu may be under the Disney umbrella, but there are no restrictions on the comedy movies it’s allowed to stream.
Anything from PG to R-rated flicks is fair game for Hulu, and it has put together an impressive lineup of comedies that rival any other streamer’s library.
Some of Hulu’s comedies are also on loan from other studios, so they may not be around for long.
For now, these are the best comedy movies you can find on Hulu. And if you’re looking for laughs, you’ve come to the right place.

Detectives Allen "Gator" Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) aren’t exactly action hero material, but that’s the point of The Other Guys. Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have very funny cameos as the guys that action comedies would normally be about.
By accident, Gable and Hoitz stumble upon a plot by billionaire Sir David Ershon (Steve Coogan) that’s much bigger than anything they’ve ever faced before. If they want to unravel Ershon’s plans, they’ll have to deal with their personal issues and figure out a way to co-exist.
The Other Guys is streaming on Hulu.

At the time Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her part in My Cousin Vinny, there were rumors that it was a mistake by the Academy. Of course, that was never the case and Tomei is absolutely delightful as Mona Lisa Vito, the girlfriend of Vinny Gambini (Joe Pesci).
Vinny is a rookie personal injury lawyer who has to step up for his cousin, Bill Gambini (Ralph Macchio), and his friend, Stan Rothenstein (Mitchell Whitfield), face murder charges in Alabama. Vinny has no experience as a defense attorney, but he and Lisa have to find a way to prove that Bill and Stan are innocent under the watchful gaze of Judge Chamberlain Haller (Fred Gwynne).

Josh Baskin (David Moscow) just wanted to be “big” so he could enjoy life as an adult without dealing with the restrictions of being a kid. Josh gets his wish in Big, and wakes up to discover he’s grown up overnight. Despite his transformed body, adult Josh (Tom Hanks) is still a kid at heart and Hanks’ infectious joy is a big reason why this is considered one of the seminal comedies of the ‘80s.
As much fun as Josh is having in his new life, he’s not prepared for adult responsibilities or romance with a woman like Susan Lawrence (Elizabeth Perkins), who has no idea about his true age. The longer Josh stays in his new body, the harder it will be to go back to his true self.
Big is streaming on Hulu.

The late Robin Williams had a lot of classic comedies under his belt, but Mrs. Doubtfire is one of his best. Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire is more than just a performance for Daniel Hillard (Williams), an actor whose marriage to Miranda Hillard (Sally Field), is falling apart. When a judge bars Daniel from spending time with his children, he develops his Mrs. Doubtfire persona to fool Miranda into hiring him to be their nanny.
Daniel is a pretty skilled actor, but keeping up two different identities is taxing even for him. He’s also pretty resentful that Miranda is ready to move on with Stu Dunmeyer, a very handsome man played by future James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. Those are the kind of feelings that might get Daniel in big trouble.

Over 25 years after its release, Office Space is still one of the best work-related comedies ever made. The film follows Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston), a formerly timid office worker at a computer company who is given newfound confidence thanks to some botched hypnotherapy.
With his new persona, Peter gets to live out the American dream of showing up his immediate boss without fear of consequences. He even finds new love with his crush, Joanna (Jennifer Aniston), a waitress who hates her job almost as much as he hates his.
Peter’s life may be on the upswing, but his co-workers, Michael Bolton (David Herman) and Samir Nagheenanajar (Ajay Naidu), are facing layoffs. They formulate an ingenious plan to get their revenge on the company, but it also threatens to get them sent to jail if it goes wrong.

Bullet Train is one of the few action comedies that equally excels at both parts of the equation. Brad Pitt stars as an assassin codenamed Ladybug who is rethinking his life choices. Ladybug’s assignment in Japan was supposed to be an easy job, and all he had to do was get on a high-speed bullet train and get off with a suitcase full of cash.
Much to Ladybug’s chagrin, the train is filled with other assassins who have their own agendas. Some of them want Ladybug dead. There’s a mysterious woman pulling the strings of these killers, and there’s nothing but trouble waiting for all of them at the end of the line.

Before he starred in Sherlock and The Hobbit trilogy, Martin Freeman was one of the featured players in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. This adaptation of Douglas Adams’ beloved sci-fi comedy novel is gloriously bonkers. Arthur Dent (Freeman) is the last living human male after Earth is destroyed in the first few minutes of the film.
Fortunately for Arthur, he’s good friends with Ford Prefect (Mos Def), an alien travel writer for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Ford manages to get himself and Arthur away from the planet before it’s destroyed. Soon after, they’re swept up in an absurd intergalactic adventure with the last living human female Trillian (Zooey Deschanel), a clinically depressed robot named Marvin (voiced by Alan Rickman) and the President of the Galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox (Sam Rockwell).
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is streaming on Hulu.

Nobody interprets history quite like Mel Brooks. History of the World Part I gave Brooks the chance to cast himself in five different roles across time, including Moses. There are four primary segments in the film covering the Stone Age, the Roman Empire, the Spanish Inquisition, and the French Revolution. But Brooks and company couldn’t resist making a few shorter stops in between the larger segments that go to some surprising places.
There actually is a History of the World Part II, which was released in 2023 on Hulu. But nothing in that miniseries was as funny as anything in the original.
History of the World Part I is streaming on Hulu.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg used their own experiences to craft the story of Superbad, and they cast Jonah Hill and Michael Cera to play the characters based on their younger selves. Seth (Hill) and Evan (Cera) are facing the end of high school and potentially their friendship as well. Before they head off to separate colleges, the friends go on a wild series of misadventures to buy beer for a party.
Meanwhile, their pal Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is caught using a fake ID by Officer Michaels (Rogen) and Slater (Bill Hader), both of whom are more interested in showing him a good time than bringing him in for his crime. The next thing Fogell knows, he just can’t shake these cops on the biggest night of his life.
Superbad is streaming on Hulu.

Wes Anderson’s second film, Rushmore, is beloved for its eccentric performance by Jason Schwartzman and an uncommonly sensitive turn by Bill Murray. Schwartzman plays Max Fischer, a student at Rushmore Academy who’s great at extracurricular activities and little else. Regardless, Herman Blume (Murray) – the father of two students at Rushmore – takes a liking to Max, and they form an unusual friendship.
Herman knew going in that Max had a crush on one of Rushmore’s teachers, Rosemary Cross (Olivia Williams). That doesn’t stop him from developing his own feelings for Rosemary. When Max finds out, he practically transforms into a Looney Tunes character to get back at Herman.
Rushmore is streaming on Hulu.
